Nature and Wildlife Tour

Our Nature and Wildlife Tour takes you off the map and into one of southeast Louisiana's most fragile and ecologically important wetlands, where you'll experience the beauty of the bayou while gaining a deeper understanding of the forces shaping its future. Along the way, expert guides explain why Louisiana's marshes are disappearing, how hurricanes, salinity, subsidence, development, and changing river management have transformed the landscape, and how coastal restoration efforts such as living shorelines, marsh replanting, and targeted sediment projects are helping protect these vital ecosystems.

Keep an eye out for alligators basking along the banks, graceful egrets and herons stalking the shallows, soaring raptors, and colorful migratory songbirds that rely on the wetlands as a seasonal refuge. As guides point out wildlife behavior, nesting areas, and the subtle signs of healthy and stressed marshes, you'll discover how people, nature, and conservation come together in one of America's most remarkable coastal environments.
